Wow! What fun this contest was! Nobody picked the one I had chosen, which was Fluffygrape Persians. Not to fret, though, I decided to take all the link names and write them down on pieces of paper, put them in a basket and mix them all up. We do have a winner! :D
It is the fellow tblogger who chose Gennily Kell's Place!
Aliciarose
you are the contest winner! Congratulations! I will be sending you your 200 tbucks, so please let me know that you got it, O.K.? :D
Thanks to everyone who participated in my contest, I thought this was fun!
My question for you all today is: do you participate in any lottery? If so, how often, and have you ever won anything? If you are too young to play the lottery, (under 18), how about your parents?
Have a great evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Today it is a great day here in Montreal, as the weather is mixed with rain, sunshine and clouds...very lovely and comfortable, I am quite enjoying it! Thus far, though, I haven't seen any rainbow, which brings me to the new title of my blog. See, for those of you who do not know this, the reason I picked "Wren's Rainbow" is because I love the rain, and I love color, too! That plus the fact that we can sometimes see a beautiful rainbow after a storm, kind of like what I went through the last several days. I was feeling down, and behind that cloud and storm was a rainbow, a light at the end of the tunnel. This is what urged me to change the name of my blog from "Wren's Blog" to "Wren's Rainbow". I am also sort of a child at heart, and I guess I felt that the name was fitting. I am so glad that you all like it, too! :D
Now for the contest....I am going to give you all a chance to pick another link in the list. Since I plan to announce the winner tomorrow, I want to make sure that everyone has had a chance to make two guesses. Thus far, combsisthebest has already made two guesses; however, since his second guess was really his first guess, meaning that he changed his mind, which I am allowing, he still has a chance at a second guess.
I will tell you all right now which links are NOT valid...."Home is Where the Heart is" and the blog links are not among any that I have chosen. I have chosen just one link, so please feel free to choose another link that you haven't yet selected, as well as a link that hasn't even been selected at all yet. It is possible that nobody has picked the correct link yet, so I am giving everyone a chance to have two choices, as I definitely want to have a winner! If you haven't voted for a link yet, please choose TWO. :)
My question for you all this time is: what is your favorite snack?
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

If more than one person chooses the same correct link, then the first person who chooses the link I have selected will win the 150 tbucks.
Good luck to everyone!
Have a wonderful day!

Wow! It is hard to believe that I haven't updated in a couple of days. The truth is, I was feeling terribly down and just didn't have the energy to take care of any of my online stuff. :(
I decided to change the name of my blog from Wren's Blog to Wren's Rainbow...I hope you like the new name.
I am back now and glad to be back. :D
I have a fun online test for you all! Please feel free to post your results in my comments here...I would love to know what yours are! I got this test from
my friend, Stello's blog! (her link is in my list of links here)
Stello is a friend whom I have mentioned about in previous posts here in my blog; she was born in Finland and lives in Ireland? Nice lady! Here is the test link!
Squirrel Name Generator You can enter your REAL FULL name in that just to see what result you get; all you need do is to add the RESULT here, which will not reveal your real name. What a hoot! Mine is:
Twitchy Crazy Whiskers! :D
I hope you are all doing well and I look forward to reading your comments once again.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Today was sunny with mixed clouds; we did get that rain after all last night, and it rained heavily for a while, and we even got a thunderstorm. I loved it! :D
I got rid of my chat program today...I only had one buddy on it, so I figured what is the point? :(
You know, people tell me that things happen for a reason, and I think that this includes making new friends as well as "losing" old friendships. It really hurts to lose a friend, but I think that there isn't anyone out there who can say that they haven't been through that at some point in their lives.
In my 47 years it has happened to me a few times, for sure. I think that sometimes people change, even move away, and I don't know about any of you, but I think long distance friendships or romances, whatever, can be the most difficult. I mean, unless you are well equipped with a good camera for chat, it is difficult to know if a person is serious, etc., because you cannot see their facial expressions. You merely rely on their voice, and some don't even have that ability, either, if they have never spoken on the phone or used voice chat. All you have to go on is the words.
I have made many friends here at tblog, and it is because of you folks along with a few friends that I know outside of here that encourage me to keep blogging. I must be honest in saying that it amazes me, as well as encourages me that anyone even takes the time to read what I have to say, and care what I think, etc.
My question for you all this evening is: what is friendship to YOU?
I will be having roast chicken with potato salad for supper, so I had better get started on that.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

I found this story tonight in the Yahoo! news. We were just talking about how people have heart attacks, etc., and how stress affects people. I have heard that animals can make people relax and I know that my cats definitely help to reduce my stress...when I read this story, I thought I just had to put it up here.
Your comments, as always, are both welcome and appreciated.
Have a great night, everyone!

N.B. man told police he wanted to kill Torontonians; friendly dog saves day

1 hour, 11 minutes ago

NOAH LOVE

TORONTO (CP) - A man who told police he was bent on going on a murderous rampage believed people in his native New Brunswick were nice, so he planned to gun down people in Toronto instead - until a friendly dog changed his mind about the city's residents.

The man drove from the Maritimes with a carload of guns and ammunition intending to kill as many people in Toronto as he could, he told police. But a last-minute encounter with a woman and her dogs in a lakefront park convinced him Torontonians are nice too.

"He wanted to start a killing spree," said Det.-Sgt. Bernadette Button. "He didn't indicate why, but (did say) that the people in the Maritimes were nice so he thought he'd come up to Toronto."

By chance, he encountered a woman walking her two dogs.

"One of the dogs approached him and it was playful and they got into a bit of a tug-of-war," Button said.

"He decided that the people in Toronto were nice and he didn't want to continue with his operational plan."

James Stanson, 43, was charged with eight weapons-related offences after a man surrendered to police Wednesday in front of a supermarket in the peaceful east-end neighbourhood known as the Beaches.

Stanson, wearing a scruffy light-brown jacket, appeared in court Thursday afternoon after being examined by a psychiatrist. A scruffy beard and moustache obscured lacerations on his round face.

Justice Richard Schneider ruled the accused would undergo further psychiatric assessment before June 30 and appear again in court for a progress report on July 14. At that time, the court will decide whether Stanson is mentally fit to stand trial.

Stanson was also remanded to the hospital unit of a Toronto jail so that he can be placed under suicide watch.

Police said a man had a loaded gun in his pocket and a car crammed with more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition and had intended to start firing in the park on a sunny summer afternoon.

The man was a dog owner and his car was packed with doggie blankets and a big plastic dog dish still filled with dry kibble. Police said he had left his own dog in New Brunswick.

After visiting the park, the man, who police described as mentally ill, drove around the city looking for a police officer.

Const. Fraser Douglas, 25, was responding to a shoplifting call in front of the nearby supermarket when the man drove up behind his cruiser and honked his horn.

"He asked the officer who he approached for (psychiatric) help, or he was going to do something serious," Button said.

At that point, the man said he had intended to go on a shooting rampage.

Officers tallied the cache Wednesday night, counting carton after carton of bullets.

The list included: a 12-gauge shotgun, a bolt-action rifle with a telescopic lens, a 9-mm semi-automatic, a machete, throwing knife, camouflage ski mask, black leather gloves, and 6,296 rounds of ammunition.

Police say all the firearms were legally purchased.

Police say they have a dog to thank, but do not know the identity of the pet's owner.

Helen Stanson of Guelph, Ont., said she believed her nephew was in Toronto seeking medical help for a heart condition.

A blood vessel in the heart was expanding rapidly and required surgery, she said. "He was a walking time bomb."

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for your kind thoughts and comments in yesterday's blog. It really means a lot to me. As well, would like to thank Scarlett
and Magoo for the very kind private messages they sent me. I truly appreciate it!
Today is a hot and humid day here, breezy, too. The weather forecast is calling for some precipitation this evening or tonight, so I am definitely hoping for rain. :D
Today is St. Jean Baptiste Day here in Quebec, which means most businesses and stores are closed for this special occasion. :D
For dinner this evening I plan to make a hamburger pattie, and some potato salad and a tomato. I just love potato salad, and I make it with the Miracle Whip light salad dressing, so there is very little fat in it...but it is so, so good! I put a hard boiled egg in it as well as a chopped onion, then mix it altogether with the Miracle Whip...mmmmmmm.
:D
I wish you all a wonderful evening!
Hugs! :D

The weather in Montreal today has been very breezy, pleasant and sunny. Lovely day! :D
Here's the hard part: then why am I feeling so down? :(
It isn't the weather, but then again, I have never been a person who has been affected by the weather. For example, a lot of people think the rain is a bad thing, they seem so unhappy when it rains. I am the opposite...I love the rain, don't mind it at all. I tend to get down more over circumstances than I do the weather. I must admit to you all, and for some of you it might be a surprise, as you most likely enjoy reading my blog because it is usually cheerful and upbeat, but I struggle every day to be that way. I mean, it doesn't come naturally, I have to push myself to be positive. I guess I shouldn't be ashamed to admit this to you all, and I am trying not to be, and I sure hope that my dear loyal readers will continue reading my blog, as it is a big encouragement to me that you even care enough to take the time to read what I am feeling, what I have to say, etc. I think that this is probably what helps me be able to be positive...just knowing that you folks are out there and take the time to read and comment.
Are you a naturally cheerful person?
Alright, I know for sure that
Magoo is! :D
That is great, and I think it is wonderful to be able to be like that...so, how about you?
Thanks for reading and commenting, and I would like to wish you all a wonderful evening!
Hugs! :D

After having seen this, I just wonder if that gentleman who hit me with his grocery cart the other day at the supermarket would fall into this category. I mean, people who have a bad temper and become furious over little things could be at risk as well, but how about people who remain angry rather than letting it out in a productive way? As well, how about those who are very sensitive and keep their feelings to themselves?
Just wondering: what do you all think about this study?
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Cool head may mean calm heart - US study

Last Updated: 2004-06-22 12:17:07 -0400 (Reuters Health)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Young adults who keep a cool head under stress may be less likely to develop high blood pressure as they age, U.S. researchers said on Monday.

A study of 4,000 young adults showed that those who stressed out the least while playing a difficult video game and taking other tests were less likely to develop high blood pressure in their 40s.

"In general, the individuals who had larger blood-pressure responses to stress had a greater risk for developing high blood pressure," Karen Matthews, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh who led the study, said in a statement.

"This risk was independent of other known risk factors such as race, gender, education, age, and body-mass index (a measure of obesity)."

Matthews and colleagues used information from a continuing study tracking the natural history of cardiovascular disease.

In 1985 researchers began studying 5,115 men and women, ages 18 to 30, and re-examined them at regular intervals.

At the second-year examination, 4,202 of the volunteers who had normal blood pressure of 140/90 or below took stress tests.

In one, they plunged a hand in ice-cold water and kept it submerged for 45 seconds. Another involved tracing an image. And one involved a video game - which at the time was fairly novel and still stressful for many to play.

"In general, participants who had the greatest blood-pressure increases during all three tasks had the highest risk for later high-blood pressure," said Dr. Mary Whooley of the University of California San Francisco, who worked on the study. The study was published in the journal Circulation.

"The greater the blood-pressure changes in all three tasks, the earlier the onset of hypertension," she said.

After 13 years of follow-up, 353 of the participants developed high blood pressure, they found.

"This study confirms previous work demonstrating an association between blood-pressure response to various stressors and the future development of hypertension," said American Heart Association spokesman Dr. Daniel Jones.

"It is still unclear whether exposure to stress is a part of the cause of hypertension in some people or whether these tests measuring response to stress are simply good markers for the future development of hypertension."

High blood pressure eventually affects up to 90 percent of Americans as they become elderly and is a leading cause of heart attack, stroke and heart failure.

Today is a very rainy day here in Montreal...at least so far, anyway!
O.K., thanks to a few of you here who were kind enough to try and help me with adding a link in my blog, I would like to try this out, so here goes!
SheSpecies
kindly sent me an e-mail last night to show me how it is done, so I hope that this is working now!
:D
I am using the code she gave me...so I am basically doing this blog more as a practice than anything, as well as to mention a few things on my mind.
Please vote for Blou in featured blogs.
Thanks, as well, to Raindropecho
and to everyone else who took time to try and help me with the HTML thing here. Now, the real test!
Are my links working? They are definitely working!!! I just tested them! A heartfelt thanks to everyone, and it was SheSpecies' e-mail that got me doing it now.
Have a great day, everyone!

Well, the beautiful new weather here continues on! Cooler temperatures coupled with a beautiful strong breeze makes it idea for going out and taking a nice long walk, cooking and doing whatever else I need to do.
Greybeard, if you are reading this, I made that recipe that you shared with me the other day in my blog...tonight. Wow, that is delicious! I cooked some elbow macaroni, added a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of tuna and I chopped up an onion very fine and added a cup of grated cheese. It was really scrumptious! Thanks so much for sharing that recipe with me in my blog the other day. :D
If anyone knows how to add a link in a blog post, such as here, (not meaning in my links), please, would you be kind enough to tell me how to do that? I would have put Greybeard's blog link when I mentioned him if I knew how to do that, but I messed up on the last attempt when I tried to do the mourelatos.com (grocery store) thing, so I didn't want to get it wrong this time.
Thanks! Speaking of links, I added a few new links in my list of links. Enjoy! :)
My question this time is: what are some of your pet peeves? I mean, what things really grate on your nerves? Some people don't like it when a toothpaste tube is squeezed in the middle, you know, any pet peeves that you have.
Thanks to everyone who cares enough to read my blog, and your comments are both welcome and most appreciated.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Well, the weather here in Montreal is much more bearable and lovely, so I am quite enjoying it! I wanted to talk about something different today, and that is stereotyping and prejudice. I guess all the blonde jokes have been getting to me, and although I am not a natural blonde, (blonde highlights), my hair has always been light brown, I suppose the closest you can get to blonde. I think it has to do with some TV shows as well...such as Three's Company. Suzanne Somers played a "dumb blonde" role, and I find it sad, not to mention frustrating sometimes, that some people still tend to think that a lady who happens to be blonde is stupid. :( I remember another show I watched a lot as well, and that was WKRP in Cincinnati, where you had Loni Anderson playing the role of a very intelligent and well paid receptionist. She was blonde, but unlike Chrissy Snow on Three's Company, Jennifer Marlowe played an entirely different role. I found this to be a relief, as for a change a blonde was playing an intelligent role.
As for myself, I am a soft spoken lady, my movements are "slow and deliberate" as opposed to "fast and violent", if you can understand what I mean, yet I am very detail oriented, intelligent and just have a different perspective on things than some people. That doesn't make me stupid, as far as I can see. I was at the grocery store yesterday when someone struck me with their shopping cart and I have a bruise on my arm because of it. :( Gosh, this man was rather violent and didn't even apologize for hitting me with his cart. I mean, gee, why the hurry? I think if he organized his time better he wouldn't have to be in such a hurry. How about retarded people? This may sound hard to believe for some of you, but I once knew a man who worked for H & R Block as a tax consultant; yes, he was retarded...however, he was one of the best employees there at that time. I work in retail, as most of you know, and about 5 years ago, I was working in a store where one of my employees was dyslexic. (I was the manager of the store) Basically, dyslexics have problems mixing up numbers, which in itself doesn't seem bad, however, for the job she was doing it could have meant her losing her job. See, she was doing sales on the cash, needed to balance her cash at the end of her shift and she was taking orders on the phone for internet sales. Now, we could get calls from England, Germany, U.S., just about anywhere in the world. She needed to get the correct information on the credit card details as well as the address. I explained to her the importance of getting it right, as the bosses wanted to fire her because of her getting an order wrong. If we had to re-ship, it cost the company money, of course. Anyway, after having worked with her for a couple of weeks and giving her tips on having the customer repeat it back or having her repeat the details back to the customer, she ended up being my best employee! :D It took patience and understanding on my part, but since I really felt that this girl, who was a 17 year old student, fully bilingual, (French and English), and who could sell and had a great rapport with the customers, as well as being a hard worker and honest, it was worth my time working with her, as her other qualities overshadowed her dyslexia, in my opinion.
How often do we look down at people, make fun of them, or judge them according to their looks, dress, color, or anything else?
Thanks for listening.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Wow! I am absolutely ecstatic! Although my fingers are still a bit swollen from that long bout with heat and humidity we had here in Montreal, it is much better today. The forecast was indeed accurate! It is cool and VERY breezy today, so I have all my windows open to allow the good air to come in. I cannot begin to tell you how relieved and happy I am! :D
I am not sure if any of you have ever been to Montreal, but I know that many who come to Canada tend to go to Toronto, Ontario. If you ever have an opportunity to visit Canada and are heading toward Ontario, please come over to Montreal, Quebec! We have a really beautiful city here with so many things to see and do. Don't let the fact that it is a French speaking city, in fact, the second largest French speaking city in the world. No, I do not work for a travel agency and in fact I have never worked in the field, but I am just saying this because I find too often that people head to Toronto and skip Montreal. Montreal is about a 6 hour car drive away from Toronto, and there are so many restaurants and tourist attractions here for you to see. We have the Saint Joseph's Oratory, Mount Royal, Laronde, the Biodome and many, many other places to check out. Some places are free, some you have to pay, but Montreal is a fantastic city, rich in beauty and culture. If any of you plan to travel this way, I can recommend some great restaurants for you that are known for offering great value, delicious food and service, as well as suggestions of places you can check out.
My question this time is: what is your favorite color?
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Gosh, it was (still is) another hot and very humid day. :( I shouldn't complain, I suppose, but I guess this is my way of sharing with you all how I feel...not very well at all. My fingers are swollen from the humidity, so my arthritis is really bothering me right now. It didn't cool down last night, either, and there was a power failure somewhere in the wee hours of the morning. I woke up at 5 a.m. to no fan, and I was perspiring miserably. Not to say that the fan is a relief, mind you, as it can only blow the existing air, which is hot, hot, hot. However, I was even worse without it. The power came back on at 6 a.m., so thankfully it wasn't out long. I am sure we had the outage due to so many people using their air conditioners...but who can blame them? It is really, really hot. The forecast calls for cooler air tomorrow, with a strong breeze, and I cannot begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to that relief.
My cats are feeling it as well and I keep putting cool water on them (via a paper towel so that they feel that they are being petted, not doused) :D
I shower as late as I can, even 10 or 11 at night, just to try and find some relief. Shower, shower, shower is what my life is all about right now!
O.K., I guess I have complained enough about that.
My question for you all this evening is: what did you have for supper last night?
Have a super evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Thanks to everyone who made comments in my last blog entries. Gentleblackcat had asked me about the English cucumber as well as BLOU, so I thought I would try and show you the difference! I am not really sure how to insert a link here in my blog yet, so please bear with me on this. There is a grocery store in Montreal that has a website. On this site you will see their weekly specials circular. If you click on the weekly specials, as you browse through this circular you will see a few different types of cucumbers in it. One is called "Persian", the next is called "Kirby", and finally, the "English cucumber". You will be able to see the difference in the English cucumber, as it is long and slender and is wrapped in plastic, whereas the others are shorter and fatter...the English cucumber is a seedless one, but the others are not. Here is the website link, before I forget. www.mourelatos.com
Come to think of it, I have added a link in my blog in the past, I just forgot how. Do I need to type the http:// first? Well, I guess I shall find out here now, won't I? :D I am editing this post to tell you the link, as my attempts did not work. The website is mourelatos.com

I had a salad again for supper tonight, but this time without salmon, as I had a pork chop with it. It is extremely hot and humid again here in Montreal today, and it is taking up my energy to just type this, but I wanted to make sure I keep my dear loyal readers up to date. :)
For those of you who may be unaware of this, there is a link on the left hand column of my blog that says, "bot this blog". If you choose this option, this means that everytime I update my blog you will receive an e-mail.
I just wanted you to know in case you weren't aware that this option is open if you wish to use it. :)

Have a wonderful evening, everyone!

My blog will be slightly different today, as it for one thing will be longer than you are used to, so please bear with me. I have something on my mind that I wish to impart, and it is sort of deep and needing to be released.
Do you take people and things around you for granted? Before you reply, please hear me out. See, it would be easy to say, "Wren, no, I do not take things I have, nor the people in my life, for granted". This may be true, but how about this: is there someone who said or did something to hurt you that you just can't forgive? Are you still harboring a grudge and anger toward that person? In a way, this is taking things for granted...here is what I mean. You are assuming that you have tomorrow to "make things right", to clear the air with that person. Maybe you don't have tomorrow, perhaps that person doesn't, either. You could walk out of your house and get killed by a car, so could that person. I think sometimes we take for granted that we have tomorrow, tending to put things off until tomorrow, which may never come. :(
I wanted to share a sad, but very true story with you all. A teenage boy, I guess he was around 14 or so, was going through "peer pressure" at school. You know, he wanted to be part of the crowd, but unfortunately that "crowd" were not good or kind people, sadly. One day, in his wish to be like his friends, when he wanted to use the washroom and discovered that his father was shaving at the sink, rather than politely tell his father that he needed to use the washroom, he said, "Move aside, stupid!" His father was shocked, because his son never spoke to him like that before...still, he moved aside. The son went to the washroom to get ready for school. He went to school, and when he came home, he discovered that his father wasn't there. He asked his mother where his dad was, as he wanted to apologize to him for his unkind comment earlier that day. His mother told him that his father was in the hospital - that he had suffered a heart attack. He went later on to visit his dad in the hospital but still didn't apologize at that time, because his father had suffered heart attacks before, so he was used to it. He promised himself he would apologize to his dad when he got home from the hospital. The next day his mother told him, "Your father had another heart attack and died."
He was haunted by this for a long time, because the last words he ever said to his father were, "Move aside, stupid."
This teenage boy grew up and became a preacher. He used this story, one that he had lived first hand, in many a sermon to show others that we just don't know how much time we have and that we should never take anything for granted.
Thanks for listening, I wanted to share this with you.
Have a great day, everyone!
Hugs. :D

I had a fantastic dinner this evening! I made a great salad, and here is what I had in that salad....mmmm. LOL! :) Lettuce, English cucumber, tomato, green onions, garlic, salmon, mushrooms and a bit of grated cheese. Salt and pepper with some extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice completed this delightful salad. I really enjoyed it! :D
It was pretty warm and humid here in Montreal today, so that salad with a nice glass of iced tea was absolutely perfect for this weather. Between the pain of my arthritis and my obvious discontent with the humidity, I am not at my best. :(
Do any of you have any pets? If so, what type of pets do you have?

I thought I would add one more blog today. I just thought of something that I wanted to ask you all.
Which president, in your opinion, within the last century, has done the best job?
As well, I thought I would ask you all when your birthdays are.
I was born on October 27th, 1956, which makes me a baby boomer. :D
I don't imagine anyone else born on the exact same date that I was out of any of you, well, not the same year as well, but how about the date itself? Thus far I know one person who shares my birthday...Stello. She sometimes leaves comments here in my blog and her blog link is in my list of links. She was born in Finland and resides in Ireland.
Have a super evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the comments they left in response to my question on what your favorite networks are. I used to LOVE GSN (gameshownetwork), but they are getting more into the reality stuff and some shows I don't like as much, so I find myself tuning in more to The Food network, PBS, YTV, Discovery, Life and Fox.
My question this time round is: what is/are your comfort food(s)? Everyone has their favorite types of food that if they were unable to get them anymore, they would really miss...what are yours?
One more question, since I am on the topic of food. What is your favorite beverage (other than water)?
It is warm but pleasant and breezy here in Montreal today.
Have a great evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Hi everyone!
Today was a lovely, breezy and comfortable day here in Montreal. :) You know, I keep hearing about featured blogs and people being in the top ten of "fame and fortune" here, but alas, I have YET to be one of those. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining at all. See, I value your friendship and kind comments in my blog, and so to me that is much more important than my getting featured or being in the top ten. This may sound strange to some of you, but being the fact that I am shy and all, I really don't like to draw attention to myself. If I win, I win, if I lose I lose, it doesn't bother me. What matters most to me is that so many of you care enough to come and read what I have to say, that you care to leave a comment here and there, and that you notice when I can't be around. Gosh, it really means a lot to me and I want to thank you all for being the wonderful people you are! :)
I decided to make myself a pot of chicken soup tonight in celebration of such a lovely day here...you know, before it gets so hot and humid that I won't want to have soup until the autumn again.
My question this time for you all is: what are your favorite television networks?
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

It is a sunny day here in Montreal mixed with clouds. It is pretty pleasant, actually. :D
My question this time is: how did you choose your username? Mine is simple....Wren is my username at my forum, Home is Where the Heart is, and I like rain.
Wren is a pretty little song bird with a big beak/mouth. Describes me quite well, actually! :D
So what made you choose your username?
Have a super day, everyone!
Hugs! :D

It has been a beautiful day here in Montreal as far as the weather goes...sunny, breezy and just right. Not cold, not hot or humid...lovely!
A friend once told me that I would probably be very happy living in a place like Trinidad, because the heat is a dry one and it never gets as hot and humid as it does in Montreal. That friend knows me too well! LOL! :D
My question for you all this time is: what are your favorite pastimes?
Have a great evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Hi everyone!
Well, I was feeling under the weather yesterday with my arthritis ..... sorry I didn't add a blog last night. Thanks for thinking of me and for your kind words and sentiments in the comments, it really makes my day to know that you care so much. :)
My question this time: do you have any siblings? If so, how many, and are you the youngest, the oldest or somewhere in the middle?
I am an only child and have always been. :( My mother had FOUR miscarriages before I was born, then she had a son (who would have been my big brother), in 1950, but Richard, her only son, died at the tender age of 6-7 months due to bronchiole pneumonia. I always wanted to have a big brother but my parents could never afford to adopt, etc., so I ended up being an only child. I was born at the tender weight of 5 and a half pounds, and because of what my mother went through with having lost 5 children already, the doctors kept a close eye on me to make sure I would make it.
Have a super evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

I thought I would add one more blog today to let you all know that I just added a few links to my list of links here.
I found a few GORGEOUS websites...see, I love beautiful graphics, music, tranquility, the ocean, animals, and especially cats and birds. If you ever feel like doing a bit of surfing on the web, the links I have here are fantastic. The graphics are beautiful, the sites are easy to navigate and the content is worth checking out.
Feel free to let me know which of my links you like best.
For those of you who do not know this, the first link, Home is Where the Heart is, is my forum. However, please do not include that as one of your favorites...the other sites are ones that I found on the web and thought they were so lovely I just wanted to share with you all.
Thanks a lot...have a super evening, everyone!

I was just wondering, so I thought I would ask you all: have you ever done any public speaking before? If so, how did it make you feel and is it something you dreaded...or enjoyed?
Have you ever acted in a play before?
I am keeping this short because my arthritis is still bothering me: today was another hot and humid day here in Montreal. :(
Have a great evening, everyone!

Wow! What a difficult, hot and humid day here in Montreal today! As Chuck Woolery, host of Love Connection would say, (in exasperation), "Goodnight!"
Now I know why I have been having such pain in my joints...it is the HUMIDITY. :(
I was just wondering...have you ever travelled anywhere outside of where you live? If so, where have you gone, and what are some of your favorite places and tourist attractions? I have travelled as far as the U.S., but have never yet had an opportunity to go overseas. If I could, though, I would love to go to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Greece. Not sure why, but from all of the photos I have seen of those places, I know I would enjoy it there. :D
I would like to thank you all for your kind comments in my blog as well as your friendship and encouragement. It really means a lot to me. :)
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

For those of you who may not know this, I have osteoarthritis. Last night I had such pain in my fingers I was in tears.
Well, it rained very little this morning, but usually when I get pain like that, it is sort of a prediction of inclement weather. Rain, snow, are usually predicted by the pain I feel from my arthritis. Sounds strange, but it is so true.
A few people have told me that when they want to know if it is going to rain or snow, they don't look at the weather forecast, they ask me how I am doing in the way of my arthritis...am I feeling any pain, etc.
I remember when I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis back when I was in my mid 30's, the rhumatologist asked me if I could predict the weather...I thought he was kidding, so I mentioned, "As a matter of fact, I can"...at which point I realized he was indeed serious. He told me that he wasn't surprised, and that many arthritics can.
Up until the last year, the arthritis was limited to just my fingers and joints in my hands, but now it has progressed to my shoulders as well. I had a severe attack of gout when I was about 36 years of age (I am 47 now), and all the doctor could say was that I was young...not to mention the fact that I am a lady. Most people who experience bouts with gout are men and over 50, usually alcoholics, or at the very least, people who eat a lot of rich foods or drink a fair amount. I do neither, so the doctor was baffled, as was I, that I had such a condition. Anyway, I was on my back (literally) for two weeks...I couldn't walk, stand up and I had to keep that foot elevated with the infected gout toe. It was extremely painful, and thankfully I have never had it since. It has been said that if you have gout, you cannot even put a thin sheet on the affected toe, it is that painful...whoever said that must have suffered gout himself, because it is true.
Anyway, enough about that but I thought I would share that with you all.
Have a super day, everyone!
Hugs! :D

Well, this will be my last entry for today, as I have much to do and already did a lot and am sort of tired.
I just got word today that the exterminator will be doing the "rounds" tomorrow in the apartment buildings in my area. Glory!  What fun, eh?
Well, they are doing a bunch of buildings in one day and mine happens to be one on their list. I just hate it when the exterminator comes. I don't suppose he will find anything, however, he is welcome to look, as being in an apartment building anything is possible. :(
I remember at a building that I used to live in about ten years ago, the landlord was asking the tenants if they had seen any roaches. I was in one of my silly moods (not often, but I do have them occasionally), LOL, so when he came to my door and asked me if I had seen any, here was my reply. "Actually, they knocked at my door, but I told them that they were not welcome in my apartment, so they left". He thought that was hilarious and laughed hysterically. At least I made him laugh.
I had never seen a roach in my apartment then, so that was my way of telling him that I hadn't seen any.
Have a super evening, everyone!
Hugs! :D

I thought it would be fun to put a childrens' background up for once, so there it is. Pooh and the gang! :D
I thought I would share with you all the things I like to do and see what your favorite things are, as well.
I like gameshows, Britcoms, especially Keeping up Appearance, Fawlty Towers, The Good Life and Mr. Bean, I enjoy reading the Chicken Soup for the Soul series books, doing crossword puzzles, sometimes jigsaw puzzles, taking a walk on the beach (when I am in an area where I can do so), listening to oldies and disco music...yes, I love disco! :D
I love animals, especially cats and birds, dogs are great as well, I love to cook!
So, how about yourself? What do you like doing?
Thanks in advance for your comments, and thank you all so much for reading, and participating, in my blog. It really makes my day!
Have a super day, everyone!

Alright, I seem to be blog crazy today, so please forgive my multiple entries. LOL! I just did another online test today and I had it posted at my forum. For those of you who may not know, I have a forum called "Home is Where the Heart is" (url is in my links). :) Thus far, it appears that, from the three of us who took the test already, that it is pretty accurate. All you need do with this one, like with most personality tests, is to be honest and describe the way you are....and voila, it seems to figure you out pretty well. While I admit that I don't take too much stock in online tests and do them just for fun, some of them are amazingly accurate, and I found this to be one of them.
Here is the link to that test: :)

Here were my results, I thought I would post them here for fun!

Life as an ISFJ
(Introvert, Sensor, Feeler, Judger)

People of this type tend to be: cautious, gentle, and thoughtful; hesitant until they know people well then affectionate and caring; very literal and aware of the physical world; uncompromising about personal standards and easily offended; diligent and conscientious, organized and decisive.

The most important thing to ISFJs is living a stable, predictable life and helping people in real ways.

I thought I would add another blog today for two reasons. One is that I wanted everyone to know that I made a typo in a previous blog where I typed "blob" instead of "blog", and the second is that I wanted to ask you all: how long have you been on the internet...and do you have high speed or a dial up connection?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

It is a sunny day, mixed with clouds, and pleasant here in Montreal today. :)
I will be having leftover roast pork tonight, which I will cut up into bite size pieces and reheat with onions and have that with rice.
I took an online test today!

Here were my results!

If your mission in life is not already to preserve the English tongue, it should be. Congratulations and thank you!

I must say that I laughed heartily when I saw my results, because being in Montreal all my life and being so immersed in the French language (Quebec's first language is French), even though my mother tongue is English, it is rather difficult sometimes to switch back and forth like that from English to French, French to English...LOL! :D
To be perfectly honest, I often struggle to find just the right way to express myself in my own English tongue at times, as forming sentences can be a challenge for me.
Although I did pretty well in school in both English and French, and although I won several spelling bees at school, I honestly don't consider myself a grammar expert by any stretch of the imagination. I must admit that the results of that test were encouraging for me, but that is about it.
I was just wondering and thought I would ask you all: what types of music do you enjoy?
Thanks in advance for your comments and have a wonderful day, everyone!
Hugs! :D

I would like to begin this blob by thanking everyone who kindly commented in my last entry. Your kind words and wisdom really means a lot to me, and I cannot get over how much I enjoy it here and it is all thanks to the kindness of my fellow tbloggers and friends. So...here is a heartfelt thanks! Thank you for taking the time to read and comment here, it really makes my day!
I am making chicken soup for supper this evening, as I am feeling slightly under the weather and thought that this would be a good thing to have; it usually makes me feel better, so that I what I shall have. :)
My question this time is: have you ever been to any theme park, water park, amusement park...well, you get the idea. If so, which one(s) have you visited, and what are you favorite rides? Is there a ride that you just never like to go on? How about waterparks?
Thanks in advance for your comments!
Have a great evening, everyone!

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on today's society. Do you think that men and women are really equal today? Are they treated equally?
Have you ever experienced any discrimination because you are a man..or a woman?
How has it affected you....your life? Perhaps someone you know has been treated unfairly because of their gender.
We all like to think that we have come a long way in society...but have we really?
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts. :)
Have a super day, everyone!

I went to A & W on Saturday morning for breakfast. I don't get to eat out often, so I thought it would be different and a treat to be able to have breakfast that wasn't cooked by myself for a change.
When I was placing my order, a simple bacon and egg breakfast, the lady asked me how I wanted my eggs prepared, which is typical, so I told her I would like them sunny side up. Then she asked me if I wanted coffee or juice, then white or brown toast, etc. I was beginning to get mildly annoyed, but I am a soft spoken and patient person, so I didn't let it show. I replied kindly to each of her questions and thus finished placing my order. The guy behind me, must have been about 20, I guess, had an entirely different personality from mine, in that he was much more aggressive and outspoken. When the lady took his order and asked him the same questions, he grew impatient quite quickly and he basically replied, emphatically, "Whatever!!!" I could not help but smile, because he was feeling the same that I did, only he handled it in a different way. He saw me smiling and returned my smile and this seemed to calm him a bit.
Tell me...when any of you go to a restaurant, do all these choices annoy you? If so, do you handle it like I did or like the male customer did? As well, what are your thoughts on dining out as a whole? Do you like it...or hate it? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!
It is a rainy and dull day here in Montreal today.
Hugs, everyone!

Have you ever been friends with anyone that just didn't seem to care? How about having a friend who could never say anything positive? Have you ever been good friends with someone who seemed to become cold and distant and then drifted away?
What is friendship to YOU? Ever felt that you seem to befriend the same sort of people who end up hurting you?
These are all hypothetical questions, of course, but I thought it would be interesting to get a bit of discussion going on friendship and what it is to you...as well as the type of friends you have, have had or would like to have.
Comments would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
Hugs, everyone! :D
