It is actually warm and humid here in Montreal today.
It is about 70 degrees fahrenheit (I stress fahrenheit, because we go by celsius here and some aren't sure how to convert it) LOL! It is about 22 degrees celsius here. For those of you who aren't sure how to convert it, you take the celsius temperature, double it and add about 27...so there you have it.
It isn't that I am unhappy about the nice weather, it is just that when it gets REALLY hot and humid here, I suffer tremendously with arthritis pain and if I cannot get into an air conditioned room for a while to escape it, I can end up sick sometimes. The thing is, sometimes it gets so humid that I have trouble breathing (and I don't even have asthma, either).

Anyway, enough about that...I think you get the idea. Well, I have much to do but I wanted to make sure that I post something so that my friends know how I am doing.
Take care and have a super day, everyone!
Hugs. :D

I thought I would do today a little bit differently...by sharing some thoughtful and favorite quotes. :)

Sometimes I wonder if we live life by reliving life, rather than by living life. -Michael Landon

People with clenched fists can not shake hands. -Indira Gandhi

Worry about that past only if you intend to go that way.

What comes from the heart goes to the heart. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Anyone complaining he was led astray by others is admitting he has no mind of his own. --Vernon Howard

Well, that is it for this time round...I hope you all enjoy the quotes.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Hugs. :D

It is a windy and chilly day today here in Montreal. I am going to have a barbecued chicken breast with potatoes for supper this evening; should be great! :)
I need to do some shopping (groceries) and must pay my rent tomorrow.
I am curious what the rent prices are like in various areas...say a 3 room apartment (1 bedroom)? As well, does the cost include heat, hot water and is it equipped? (i.e. fridge and stove). If any of you wouldn't mind, please leave a message here to let me know, O.K.? Thanks. :)
I am in Montreal and am paying just under $600 Canadian for a 2 bedroom apartment...the 2nd bedroom has been converted into a dining room...they took the door down and left an opening from the kitchen to this room. My rent includes heat and hot water and is equipped. I also have a balcony (am located on the top/third floor of my building).
I am adding one more link to my links list today...Stello's blog. Stello is a friend whom I have known for the last several months ..... we communicate via e-mails and private messages. She is a very nice lady, born in Finland and lives in Ireland. Check out her blog!
Well, that is about it for me today...have a super evening, everyone!
Hugs. :D

Today is an interesting day; much to do and the sun is shining, at least somewhat, anyway! :)
Stello, if you are reading this, I tried to get to your forum but the servers are down. If you had sent me a PM in reply to mine I didn't get it due to not being able to get to the forum.
I will send you a PM at my forum to let you know what is happening, O.K.?
The hamburger I had last night was terrific! I don't eat that often, so it was very good. Tonight I will have some vegetables (potatoes, onions, tomatoes..) should be great.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone.
Hugs. :D

Well, today was a sunny and chilly day here in Montreal. The forecast is calling for 60% showers for this evening.
And as I write this, the showers have begun indeed! :D
I keep looking at it: "April showers bring May flowers"
I found a neat background the other day that I put up here and I found it kind of pleasant and fun, hope you like it.
This evening I am having hamburger for dinner...should be great.
Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs. :)

I am beginning to feel better, thankfully. My cats are still acting peculiar, and I know it is the weather, because whenever there is inclement weather or a storm, they take these little fits running back and forth with no direction. It is hilarious, actually.
Everything else is fine with them, they are happy, healthy, energetic and affectionate. Cats sleep a lot, more than any other animal I know, so they sleep a good portion of the day.
I wasn't particularly hungry last night, but I made a decent supper nonetheless. I peeled and washed some potatoes and boiled them, then mashed them with a tiny bit of milk, margarine, chopped onion and salmon. I quite enjoyed it and the salmon is healthy, so I felt that I ate well.
Not much else to say this time, so have a great evening, everyone!
Hugs. :D

Well, it is chilly and rainy here in Montreal today, kind of a dull day.
My cats were pretty lethargic and didn't seem overly energetic, so I did some housework and basically, relaxed and took it easy.
I purchased some nuts yesterday at the grocery store...you know, the tropical mix? It has raisins, dried pineapple and papaya as well as an assortment of nuts. I had a small portion today and they are so delicious and fresh. I try to eat fruits and vegetables as much as I can, and nuts are healthy, too, as they contain magnesium, which is good to have...so, these will last me quite a while because I eat small portions of them at a time.
Well, I guess that is it for me today, so have a wonderful evening, everyone!

Hugs. :D

Well, for supper this evening I plan to have pork chops with potatoes so it should be pretty good. I still have a headache and my lower back is still sore, but it is very windy and chilly today, the only difference is that the sun is shining! :)
I have so much stuff to do and so little time these days that I have been behind on keeping my blog updated...so please excuse my doing two today. One thing I am happy about as far as the weather is concerned is that there is a lot of fresh air to be had, which is quite refreshing, actually. I never was a fan of the extreme heat and humidity that Montreal is famous for during the summer. I much prefer the cooler and less humid days, as I feel much happier and healthier than I do when it is humid and really hot. Not only that, I have a lot more energy when it is cooler.
Have a super evening, everyone.
Hugs. :D

04.24.04 (3:45 pm)   [edit]
It was still kind of chilly and cloudy here today, but living in Montreal all my life has taught me to never be surprised at the weather, so I just do the best with what I have and enjoy it.
I had liver and onions for supper which is something I don't eat very often, but it was pretty good, I must say. Liver is the type of thing that I have to be in the mood for and generally eat it a few times a year. I usually eat it when I am feeling sort of lethargic and need more energy, and it always seems to give me the extra iron I need.
I have been having headaches and lower back pain for the last few days so I am hoping that this will pass soon and might be weather-related.
That is pretty much it for this time...have a great evening, everyone!
Hugs. :D

I was finally able to change the colors here. I like them better than the last ones, this is for sure! :D
Since Monday, it has been very windy and dull in Montreal...rainy, cloudy and the wind has been howling something fierce! As the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers", so I try to look at it from this perspective. It is so much easier and more pleasant than complaining about it.
Not sure if there are any other baby boomers out there...if you were born between 1946 and 1964, you are a baby boomer. If not, you may enjoy "reminiscing" nonetheless. I love to talk about the "good old days"....some people call it "taking a walk down memory lane". I have a forum (link is in my links....Home is Where the Heart is.) If you enjoy talking about the 60's, 70's or even 80's...or earlier, feel free to register and join in the fun. Even if you aren't a baby boomer or don't like to reminisce, there are many topics to discuss.
Well, that is it for this time, so I would like to wish everyone a great evening.
Hugs! :D

I had a great dinner last night! Boiled green cabbage, potatoes and ham...mmmm. My lower back has been bothering me a lot the last several days; it has been giving me a lot of pain. :(
I have been continuing my Spring cleaning, slowly but surely getting it done. One section at a time, one room at a time...it is beginning to look pretty nice and orderly.
My cats have been sleeping a lot! Yesterday it was a very windy, rainy day here in Montreal and my cats were flipped out. The wind was very strong and it rained pretty hard...most of the day, too! Well, as the saying goes..."April showers bring May flowers", so I try to remember that when I see the rain. Honestly, though, I never minded the rain.
Well, not too much to say this time, so have a great evening, everyone!!!
Hugs! :D

04.18.04 (12:34 pm)   [edit]
Wow...yesterday was such a busy day that I totally forgot to update my blog! :o
The last couple of days have been pleasant but cloudy here in Montreal. I can handle the rain and cloudy days, so it doesn't bother me at all.
I went to do some grocery shopping today and got a few bargains so I am very happy about that!
Tonight I am going to make a nice pot of homemade chicken soup with Loney's chicken base, cabbage, onions, garlic, chicken and rice! I am SO looking forward to that...perfect for an otherwise dull day! :D
Not much more happening to talk about so I would like to wish you all a fantastic evening!
Hugs! :D

I attempted to change my colors here but unfortunately did a lousy job. :( I mean, I like a few of the colors but not all...particularly that dark green on the left. It doesn't match the rest, (at this point, not that anything else does, either) but I am still new at this so please bear with me.
I am having trouble with the codes here...which ones are for which functions, so basically I kind of messed up...oh well, life goes on, right? :D
If any of you are reading my blog and you know what that left hand column where the green is called, please send me a message to let me know and I will work on the colors a bit later....ugh, I am just editing this now, as I can see that the color changes are there. Perhaps there was a delay or something? Well, I will continue to try and fix them.
That's it for today...everyone, have a great evening!
Hugs.

I was actually quite surprised that there didn't seem to be any documentaries on Discovery or PBS about the Titanic, being the fact that today is the actual date she sunk 92 years ago. If there were, I didn't notice any in the TV listings, this is for sure.
I actually ate a hamburger this evening for supper. I eat very little red meat, so it was a bit of a change for me to have it, that's for sure.
I changed a couple of things on my forum today (images)...I added some starfish and a bird; these were made for me by a friend of mine, combsisthebest. He is a real sweet person...he is a moderator at my forum and a good one, too.
If you would like to see my forum, the link is in the left column: Home is Where the Heart is.
It was a sunny and cool but pleasant day here in Montreal today...great weather for a nice long walk and enjoying the sunshine! :D
That is about it for me today.
Have a good evening, everyone!
Hugs!

Well, it is hard to believe that it is 92 years ago today since the Titanic struck that iceberg way back in 1912! :(
I have read so many books and seen enough movies and documentaries about it that I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable in relation to the Titanic.
It is too bad that so many people believed that the ship was "unsinkable", because obviously it was not.
Tonight I am going to have a barbecue chicken leg with some boiled green cabbage for supper and am looking forward to that.
I haven't been eating too much these days and need to eat more than I do, this is for sure. Two meals a day is definitely not adequate.
Even my two cats eat more than I do (separately), I am pretty sure. :(
Aside from that, I am still caught up in doing my Spring cleaning...one section at a time, one room at a time until I finish, which should hopefully be sometime in May.
That's all I have to say today. Have a wonderful evening, everyone!
Hugs. :)

04.13.04 (3:13 pm)   [edit]
Well, today is a pretty rainy and dull day here in Montreal, and days like this I don't mind, as it tends to enable me to get caught up on my housework, Spring cleaning and other various indoor chores.
My cats tend to sleep a lot more and are more quiet on days like this as well, so it makes me wonder if we humans are not the only ones that tend to be affected by the weather. :)
One of my cats, Evelyn, the black one, has a cold right now and has been sneezing quite a bit the last couple of days. Poor thing, bless her heart, one of her eyes is quite teary as well....if I didn't know that animals can't catch a cold from a human, I could tell you that she probably caught my cold. :(
Speaking of animals, I saw a program on Discovery last night: World's Funniest Animals, I think it was called, an Animal Planet show. Discovery is having a special series this week called "Animal Planet Week", so I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the week will be like!
I really enjoy watching shows on animals and wildlife, as well as true crime, britcoms and sitcoms and The Outer Limits. My favorite britcom of all time is Keeping up Appearances, followed by Fawlty Towers and Mr. Bean.
As far as other sitcoms go, my favorites would have to be: Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Home Improvement, The Cosby Show just to name a few.
Well, that is about it for today...everyone, have a wonderful evening!
Hugs. :D

04.11.04 (8:38 pm)   [edit]
Well, last night I had corned beef and cabbage for supper and it was delicious! Tonight I am preparing an oven roasted barbecued chicken leg with potatoes....should be great! :)
I don't get headaches very often but have had a pretty bad one the last couple of days. I have been eating two meals a day instead of three for the last several days so I can't help but wonder if it is related to that, perhaps. :(
I saw a show on Discovery last night about the Air Transat Flight 236 disaster that occurred on August 23rd, 2001 when the flight was on its way from Toronto, Canada to Lisbon, Portugal. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, here is a link for you if you would like to read about it.
http://suncafe.us/article783.html" title="http://suncafe.us/article783.html" target="_blank"http://suncafe.us/article783....
I was truly fascinated with this account, as they did a really good job in the re-enactment of the disaster for this series on Discovery entitled "Disaster Detectives."
It is a great thing that everyone survived it, too.
Well, that's it for me this time; hugs, everyone! :D

04.11.04 (10:04 am)   [edit]
Well, it's already Easter Sunday! How time flies, eh?
I did an animal quiz this morning and did well...however, not as well as I think I should have. LOL (6/10)
 I am including the link here if anyone wants to try it. I used to work in the pet supply field in a managerial capacity...and for 9 years in that field, so I thought I should have done better on that test. At any rate, it was fun nonetheless!
http://www.allthetests.com/quiz08/dasquiztd.php3?testid=1081373212" title="http://www.allthetests.com/quiz08/dasquiztd.php3?testid=1081373212" target="_blank"http://www.allthetests.com/qu...
Speaking of retail, if I can ever get out of that field I would really like to...it's just like a rat race today and it's a shame that the good old fashioned service you used to get years ago is almost nonexistent today. :(
It's rush, rush, rush! Everyone is always in such a hurry, nobody has time for anything anymore. I really think that people need to study time management, as most of the time, the hurry that people are in is because they procrastinate and put things off till the last possible moment; then all of a sudden, they panic to catch up on their work and activities. Well, not everyone, but certainly a fair amount of people. Society doesn't help either, with instant banking, instant coffee, instant this, speedy that... :)
I have housework and a few errands to run today, so I will be busy.
Hugs, everyone...have a happy and safe Easter holiday!
:D

Saturday, April 10th
04.09.04 (9:20 pm)   [edit]
Today will be an interesting, busy and fun day for me.
I have housework to do, grocery shopping and a friend of mine is going to take me out to dinner for Easter.
Mmmm....I can almost taste it already. Barbecue chicken, cole slaw, french fries, sauce....one of my favorite meals when I eat out! :D
I changed the entire theme at my forum today from a turquoise, Easter theme to that of an ocean one.
I am leaving the Easter banner up until Sunday and then plan to put up a new one then. The banner will have a sort of summer/ocean theme which will blend nicely with the rest of the forum.
Check it out if you would like to! The url is in my links (Home is Where the Heart is) is the name of my forum.
Well, that about does it for me this time around...everyone, have a super day!
Hugs. :)

04.08.04 (9:29 pm)   [edit]
You know, with everything that is happening these days, it is really hard to lose focus on what is really important. I am talking about the deeper things in life such as friendship, love, kindness...you know, the stuff that really matters; at least to me these things are more important. I always try to do the right thing, to put the past behind me, to forgive and forget, as it were, and I guess I have trouble understanding why some people seem to have such a difficult time putting the past behind them. For myself, I try to live each day as a new day, not harbor grudges or stay angry with people; life is much too short to stay angry and hold grudges, I think.
This evening I will be having leftover roast lamb for dinner...I will make a stew of it, so it will be very tasty indeed!
That is it for now...hugs, everyone! :)

04.08.04 (10:16 am)   [edit]
Well, for some reason this tblog.com site has been down and very slow at times, so I apologize to everyone who tries to read my blog but cannot due to the site being down. :( I added my second blog to my links list, as I figured that in the event that I can't add anything here or those of you who read my blog are unable to, well, read my blog here, perhaps you can take note of the second link; just in case.
It is sunny here in Montreal today; still chilly and windy, but then again, it is only approaching the second week in April, so this is to be expected.
I have lots of laundry to do and catch up on, as I have been running ragged with so much things to keep up with so I plan to deal with that today.
I am having leftover spaghettini for dinner this evening and am so looking forward to that. It always tastes so much better the second time round!
That is it for me for now; have a great day, everyone!
Hugs. :)

04.07.04 (1:30 pm)   [edit]
Well, being new to having a blog and all, it suddenly just dawned on me that perhaps I should be entering the day as well as the date on my entries, so I shall do this from now on.
I am cooking a roast lamb for dinner this evening, which I will have with carrots....mmmmm, I can taste it already! :D
I received a really nice private message from another blog user last night telling me that she enjoys reading my blog. You know, this was a total stranger, so it really touched me especially that a stranger would send me a kind message like that. I replied, of course, and I have been checking out her blog since that message she sent me. She has a really nice blog and is a wonderful person. If you are reading this, you know who you are!
:)
You know, I used to bowl on a bowling league many years ago and was pretty good at it as well...it seems that there are days now that I just don't seem to have much energy...certainly not the energy I used to; however, I am working on getting that much missed energy back!
Have a great day, everyone! Hugs.

April 6th
04.06.04 (4:42 pm)   [edit]
Today was a sunny and chilly day here in Montreal. I had spaghettini for dinner tonight; it was quite enjoyable!
I am still working on my Spring cleaning, as I really love to have a clean, organized apartment! My cats are in a cuddy mood today, must be the weather. :D
When the summer comes and the humidity along with it, as Montreal's summers are known for, the cats will be anything but cuddly, so I am enjoying it while it lasts.
Have a good evening, everyone!
Hugs.

Well, it is pretty cold and windy today so I had to try and adjust to the warmer temperature of yesterday.
:(
I tried this online test today...it was quite fun!
http://web.tickle.com/color/" title="http://web.tickle.com/color/" target="_blank"http://web.tickle.com/color/
I won't say which color I was; but those of you who visit my forum will know this anyway.
I had minced beef for supper tonight and it was pretty good. I don't eat beef (in any form) very often, as I am prone to getting gout, unfortunately, so I really need to watch the red meat.
Well, not much else to say for this time around, so I would like to close in wishing you all a fantastic day!
Hugs!

April 4th
04.04.04 (2:53 pm)   [edit]
I cannot believe it! The rain that we had here has turned to snow! Well, I shouldn't be surprised, as it is Montreal! :)
I am getting a lot accomplished today in my cleaning, and it looks as if I have begun an early Spring cleaning, which always brightens up even the dullest of days for me! Yes! :D
I added a couple of links to my list!
Well, back to my housework!

April 4th
04.04.04 (12:58 pm)   [edit]
Today is a pretty chilly and rainy day here in Montreal. For those of you who know me well, you will know that I love to have things organized, neat and tidy. I absolutely hate clutter!
I will work on getting my place cleaned and tidy today, just the way I like it.
I am having roast chicken and turnips for supper tonight...yum! Pretty good meal for a chilly, rainy day!
I will change the background on my blog as often as I find ones that I like so stay tuned! :D
I hope you all have a great day! Hugs.

April 3rd
04.03.04 (12:34 pm)   [edit]
I added a couple of links today to my blog! Well, they are sites that I really like and so I figured it would be good to let others know about them. One is called Bird Island and is a great "getaway"....sites like that are fantastic.
The other link is Deer with Horns, an American indian site that is owned and operated by Wendell and Nancy Deer with Horns (yes, that is their real, legal name). They are very nice people and reside in South Dakota.
While I am on the topic of native, my grandparents on my father's side were born in Dartford, Kent, England. I have never yet had an opportunity to visit Europe or anywhere overseas for that matter, as yet, but I would definitely love to! From all the books, magazines and photographs I have seen of England it seems like such a beautiful place!
Well, I am invited out to dinner tonight at a friend's place and corned beef, cabbage and potatoes are on the menu, which I am SO looking forward to.
To anyone who is interested enough to read my blog: a heartfelt thanks for caring enough to take the time to read what is happening with me; albeit sometimes boring.
Hugs! :D

04.02.04 (4:07 pm)   [edit]
Today was a very rainy day here in Montreal. Fortunately, I don't mind the rain!
The thing is, I have resigned myself to the knowledge that I can't change the weather, so why complain about it?
Yesterday was April fool's day and I am glad nobody was unkind to me by pulling tricks on me, because I am not very keen on stuff like that. I mean, I don't mind a good joke, but face it, why does someone have to wait until April to tell a good joke? Practical jokes are not my cup of tea.
Well, that's it for me today. If you are reading this, I wish you a wonderful weekend!
Hugs.

04.01.04 (4:37 pm)   [edit]
Wow! Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I mean, it is already April 1st! You know, I hardly watch the news anymore. Why? 99% of it is bad news. How often do you hear really good news? It's a shame that the media seem to think that bad news sells. I have a series of books called, "Chicken Soup for the Soul" and these are positive, uplifting, true stories that are so encouraging. Face it, when you are surrounded by negativity most of the day, it is certainly nice to be able to turn to something positive and reassuring.
I often make it a habit to compliment my friends or people in general when they do something good or nice. It is so easy to complain, and more people complain than compliment, I find, so I try to make my friends and people around me know that I appreciate the things they do. No fun and definitely not productive to hear negative all the time!
Well, that's it for me today! :D
